This is a crocheted piece.
When it comes to crocheted household items, eco-friendly scrubbing brushes are a staple item.
When it comes to eco-friendly scrubbers, it is common to knit them with acrylic yarn.
It's true that acrylic yarn, with its texture and vivid colors, is reminiscent of sponge.
I wondered what materials sponges are made of, so I did a search and found that most are made of urethane, cellulose, and non-woven fabric.
And I discovered that the Zubizuba pointed sponge that I use in my kitchen is so easy to use I just can't stop using it, and it's actually made of acrylic!
In addition to crocheted eco-friendly scrubbers, there are also acrylic scrubbers.
That was a long introduction, but this time I tried knitting a thick, sturdy acrylic scrubber that is comfortable to use.
The photo shows it in a kitchen style, but I'm thinking of using it to clean the bathtub.
The eco-friendly scrubbing brush I knitted previously is nearing the end of its useful life, so I'll try using this one next.
The bag is designed with one side open so that you can put your hand inside, but if you want to use it like a sponge, try sewing the opening of the bag closed.
Although they are consumable items, kitchen work and cleaning can be more enjoyable if you have tools that you can grow to love.

Instructions
Please also check the knitting pattern along with instructions on how to make it.
① Start weaving from the bottom of the bag-shaped scrubber.
Cast on 12 chain stitches and knit into a crocodile shape.
If you change the size, try to make the number of chains in the cast-on stitches an even number (as it is a 2 stitch 1 pattern).
The first row is all knit stitches, and in the first half, you pick up the strand on the other side of the cast-on chain and the back of the knot, and in the second half, you pick up the remaining strand that you didn't pick up earlier and knit it.
②From the second row onwards, on even rows you will do a slightly different type of ponytail stitch.
The starting point is a little difficult, but start with three chain stitches, then gather the chain into a bundle and make a ponytail with three double crochet stitches.
After starting the stitch, crochet one double crochet, then crochet three medium double crochets from the side, gathering the stitches into a bundle.
③If you want to add a hook loop, when you are making the final row of knitting stitches, knit a chain of about 8 to 10 stitches around the side of the scrubbing brush, then pull it through the knitting stitch at the base to make a loop.
