Crocheted baby rattle
Recently, I suddenly noticed that there were no rattle designs in the "Children's" category of free crochet patterns.
As my children have grown, I have been adding "kids' stuff" less frequently in recent years.
However, for me, who started crocheting as part of my life as a child-rearing child, baby and children's items are an indispensable part of crocheting.

Rattles are a baby's first toy.
Such an adorable item, perfect for a small world.
I immediately wanted to knit it, so I started looking for baby yarn for the first time in a while.
The design used for this piece is "Coton Bebe" by Amimonet.
Organic cotton 100%, a soft yarn that feels gentle on the skin.
Pastel colors are perfect for baby items.
The medium thickness also matched the thickness of the knitted fabric I had in mind.
In addition to the pastel colors, the chic colors were also lovely, so I bought them as well.
The grayish nuanced color is a color that adults will want to use for baby and children's items and adult accessories.
Beige colors are also good.
It was very easy to use for creating works that require color matching, like this one.
This yarn has a comfortable cotton feel, so I'd like to use it again for knitting in the spring and summer seasons.

1. Base circle
First, knit the base circle using color 6 (white milk tea).
Once you have knitted 30 stitches in the chain, pull it through to the first stitch to make a loop.
For the first row of knit stitches, pick up one strand on the other side of the cast-on chain and the back of the knot.
Once you have finished knitting the last row, cut the yarn leaving a long end and thread the end through the darning needle.
With the knitted fabric facing outwards, line up the stitch from the cast-on with the stitch from the last row, pick up the remaining chain from the cast-on and the top two stitches of the last row, and close the knitted fabric with a roll stitch.
Before closing it completely, put some cotton and bells inside.
2. Small Circle
Knit one small circle each in colors 1, 3 and 4.
Once you have knitted 24 stitches into the chain, thread the chain through the hole in the base circle and pull it through the first stitch to form a loop.
From the first row onwards, proceed in the same way as the base circle.
Please treat the yarn carefully and discontinue use if the knitted fabric shows signs of wear or damage such as fraying, or if there is a possibility of this happening.

The ball in this photo is quite old, but the photo of the finished product on the free knitting pattern page is fresh and colorful.
Even in places like this, I felt the passage of time.
I don't have a knitting pattern for the baby hat yet, but I hope to re-knit it with new yarn someday and publish the pattern.
