Free Crochet Pattern: Sisal-Style Bag | Summer Edition

This is a crocheted piece.

This crocheted bag is made with natural linen yarn, giving it a summery feel.
I've always wanted a sisal bag, the kind you'd find in a stylish select shop that sells Asian goods.

I was intrigued every time I saw them, and eventually I bought a black sisal bag, but the handles faded in water and before I knew it, it had become an interior decoration item...

My collection of bags keeps increasing, but as summer approaches, I wanted to knit a hemp rope bag that I could use without any worries, so I made one like this.

The notebook in the photo is A5 size.
It would also look great knitted with raffia-style yarn.
You can add a leather tag or a corsage or brooch as a special touch of your choice.

Yarn and Crochet Hook Size

4 rolls of medium to extra-thick linen (40g balls, approximately 60m)
3.0 mm (JP 5/0)

Instructions

Please check the knitting pattern along with the instructions for how to make it.

①Start knitting from the bottom of the bag.
Cast on a chain of 20 stitches, and in the first row, scoop up one chain on the other side of the cast-on chain and the back of the crest and make a circular stitch.
Continue knitting, increasing stitches on both ends in each row up to the 10th row.

② From rows 11 to 45, knit the knit stitches without increasing or decreasing the number of stitches, and cut the yarn after finishing row 45.

③Next, knit the handle.
Cast on a chain of 70 stitches, then increase stitches on both ends and work up to three rows using a loop stitch.
Leaving the ends of the yarn long at the beginning and end of knitting can be used to sew the handles onto the bag, making it easier as there is less yarn to deal with.

④ Fold the knitted handle in half and sew together with an overlock, leaving about 5 cm of space on both ends (the part that will be sewn to the bag).
I sewed it together, matching the green circles on the knitting pattern.
For the handle, knit two identical strands.

⑤ Place the handle on the bag body and sew it in the desired position while checking the balance. Then it's finished.

Crocheting is really fun.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's knitted using glittery cotton.
The yarn was a little thin, so I increased the number of stitches to make it just the right size.
