This is a crocheted piece.
I was able to buy some lovely yarn that I was excited about, so I decided to make a striped crochet bag.
This yarn has a mix of different colors, so I think it falls into the fancy yarn category.
I knitted it together with medium-weight linen yarn, and although the colored yarn gives a subdued impression when it is finished, it has a feel that I have never seen before.
This time I tried something a little different with the opening of the bag. I added a drawstring pouch using grid knitting.
It's quite useful when you try it, so I think I'll try applying it to other things as well.
This drawstring pouch can be closed with a string or opened and placed over the outside of the bag. That's why we named it "2-way."
When the drawstring is retracted and not visible, it looks like a regular shoulder bag.

Instructions
Please refer to the knitting pattern along with the instructions for how to make it.
①This bag is made with two strands of off-white linen yarn (all except the drawstring at the opening are made with two strands). The colored yarn is made with two strands: one colored yarn and one off-white linen.
Cast on 29 chain stitches and start knitting from the bottom of the bag.
From then on, knit using knit stitches, increasing each row until the 7th row.
② From rows 8 to 36, keep the number of stitches around 96 and work in a round stitch without increasing or decreasing the number of stitches. Please check the chart for changing yarn colors.
In the middle, to create a spot to knit the drawstring at the opening of the bag, in row 33, work a single stitch (pick up just one stitch in front of the knit stitch in row 32 of the previous row).
③After completing the 36th row, continue knitting one side of the string with the same yarn. To make the string, knit back and forth using a round stitch. To make the other side of the string, attach the yarn from the position shown in the knitting pattern.
To adjust the length of the string, try changing the number of rows you knit.
④ Once you have knitted both sides of the string, align the ends of the knitted fabric together and secure with a roll stitch.
Attach the yarn to the center of the shoulder strap (around the sewn seam) and crochet the edge using a knit stitch, going all the way around the edge of the strap and the main body.
⑤Next, attach the yarn to the back (inside) of the bag body and knit the drawstring part.
When knitting the drawstring part, I used a single strand of blue-gray yarn (thinner than the main body).
In row 33, pick up the weft thread that is visible in the stitch you made (the thread that was not picked up when making the stitch on the front of row 33) and knit it in a grid pattern.
Drawstring opening knitting patternPlease check. After completing one round, you will have a total of 48 grid squares.
Knit the opening of the drawstring bag up to row 14 without increasing or decreasing the number of stitches.
⑥ Knit the chain until you reach the desired length, then make two identical ones and thread them through the drawstring part of the pouch.

Momiji's "2-way shoulder bag"
When I saw this knitting pattern, I fell in love with it and was determined to try knitting it, but since I don't have a lot of money to spend on yarn, I knitted it using two strands of medium-weight yarn that I got at a 100 yen shop.
I started knitting without checking the knitting pattern carefully, so I realized just before it was finished that I should use two strands of yarn for the colored part, one of the base color and one of the colored yarn, but it was too late and the color ended up being vivid.
If I had used two strands of thread, one in the base color and one in the colored thread, the color would have been a little more subdued...
But since I went to the trouble of knitting this bag, I'll take it with me when I go out this fall.
