Here we explain how to crochet by knitting 5 double crochets into 1 stitch of the previous row using video and still images.
The cover of the video shows the knitting symbol (stitch symbol) for "Knit 5 double crochets into 1 stitch of the previous row."
When knitting patterns, it is common to see five double crochets. When this happens, if you look closely at the symbols, you will see that the bases of the fan-shaped double crochets are sometimes touching and sometimes separating.
In both cases, the steps to knit the double crochets are the same, but the placement of the double crochets is slightly different.
Here we will explain the former, where the base of the double crochets is joined together. If the base of the knitting chart symbol is joined together, insert your needle into the same stitch in the previous row and crochet 5 double crochets.
The latter is explained on a separate page, but if the base of the knitting pattern symbol is far apart, the previous stitch you knit will not be a single stitch, but rather you will insert the needle into the space made by the chain (scooping up the chain into a bundle) and knit.
