Free Crochet Pattern "Knapsack" | Knitting Patterns for Summer Fun

This is a crocheted piece.

I tried crocheting a knapsack.
It is a larger version of a drawstring pouch without a gusset, so you can use it as a drawstring pouch without attaching the string loop at the bottom of the bag.

The model wearing it is a girl, but it would also look good on a little boy.
Using a ribbon instead of string gave it a cute look (you can see a close-up image of the ribbon at the bottom).
The impression will change depending on the type of string you use, so try to find one that you like.

This is knitted with medium-fine yarn, which is perfect for spring and summer.
It stretches more than a cloth knapsack, so it's easier to use if you use a sturdy yarn and knit it so that it doesn't become too loose.

You can adjust the size by changing the number of cast-on stitches, so you can knit a matching drawstring pouch for the knapsack, or even knit a parent-child pair item.
I can't help but imagine it could be used as a travel bag...

Since most of the rows are knitted with the same number of stitches, it would also be great for mobile knitting.

Instructions

Please refer to the crochet pattern along with these instructions.

① Start knitting by casting on the chain.
To create the chain, crochet 71 stitches.
If you want to change the size, cast on a stitch that is a multiple of 5 + 1 stitch.

② On one side of the first row (going leg), pick up one chain on the other side of the cast-on chain and the back knot and knit together, and on the other side (return leg), pick up one of the remaining chains and knit together.

③ Rows 2 to 31 are knitted without increasing or decreasing the number of stitches.
From the second row onwards, for the second and third double crochets in a row of four double crochets, gather the chain from the previous row (for the first pattern in odd-numbered rows, the double crochet from the previous row) into a bundle.
To ensure the starting position does not shift, the knitting style is changed at the beginning and end of every other row (at the end of even-numbered rows, the last double crochet is chained to make it look like 3 stitches).

④The knitting method is changed on the 32nd row to create a place to thread the string.
Cut the yarn after you finish knitting the 32nd row.
This is the opening of the bag, so make sure to secure the threads tightly.

⑤ Make two pieces of thread cord with 10 stitches each.
Pass each string through the "string loop attachment position" at the bottom of the bag to form a loop, then securely tie the ends together.

⑥ Pass the string through the stringing hole, then pass the string through the loop at the bottom and tie it.
Once you have threaded two strings through, it's complete.
