This is a crocheted piece.
When I'm choosing fabric, I always think of gingham check, even though it's a classic.
I had been vaguely thinking about crocheting gingham for a while, and now that I had gathered some yarn in just the right colors, I decided to give it a try.
From a distance, doesn't it look like that?
It's thick, so maybe it's a pot holder or a pot holder.

Instructions
① Start by making a chain of 36 stitches and knitting. I used beige yarn to make the cast-on.
② For each row, use two different colors of yarn to knit the knit stitches.
In the knitting pattern, knit so that the beige parts use beige yarn, the light brown parts use brown yarn, and the unfilled parts use white yarn.
Wrap unused colored yarn around the knitting piece to prevent the yarn from coming out on the back.
Since the yarn would be visible on the sides, I cut the brown and white yarn as I skipped rows (although this made it a bit difficult to deal with the yarn later).
③ After knitting up to the 36th row, leave the beige yarn attached without cutting it. Tie down the ends of the yarn sticking out to the side.
Continue knitting the edge using beige yarn (purple symbols in the knitting pattern).

Momiji's "Gingham Check Mat"
When the weather gets a little cooler, I start to miss knitting.
Following on from the cake accessory holder, I made this using leftover yarn as a small gift.
I discovered that greens, blues, and purples produce a more subdued finish than bright reds and yellows.
It's a bit of a downside because it's leftover yarn and I don't have my favorite subtle colors...
