Free crochet pattern "Squirrel Doily"

This is a crocheted piece.

I tried crocheting a doily, which I guess could be called lace knitting. I've always wanted to make a doily of my own design, so this time I tried a squirrel pattern.
I knitted it with the momentum of "let's try it when we have an idea!", but even a piece that can be completed in a short amount of time is fun and gives a great sense of accomplishment.
The rules of grid knitting are simple, which is why it's fun and gives the pieces a sense of breadth. It's getting harder to stay up late on long autumn nights.

However, when it comes to decorations, our house quickly becomes cluttered with things, so if we don't keep the shelves and counters tidy, the little squirrels will quickly get lost. Maybe I'll try using it to hide the cage.

How to make it

①Cast on 41 chain stitches and begin knitting.
For the first row of double crochets, crochet one stitch on the other side of the cast-on chain and the back crochet.

②For the second row, repeat 1 double crochet + 1 chain, knitting 1 chain stitch in a grid.
Please refer to the design for the squirrel pattern from the third row onwards.

③ Once you have completed the 20th row, do not cut the yarn, but turn the knitted fabric right side out and continue knitting the edge using the same yarn.

I fell in love with this cute doily at first sight.
I made it in a small size using No. 40 lace thread.

I used #40 lace yarn and size 6 lace needles to knit it. It's 73mm long and 73mm wide, and it's a square. There's no secret to it! But if you use three stitches, you can knit it straight and neatly, and if it's long, it will become a square. Please give it a try!
