Crochet book: Summer Crochet Accents (Bunka Publishing Bureau)

Ronique's second book is for the spring/summer season. I was once again in charge of the design, production, and writing.
As winter comes to an end, you'll start to miss hemp string and raffia-style yarn. This book is packed with cool shawls, room socks, and spring/summer bags to knit in the season when crocheting becomes even more fun.
Here we introduce some of the works featured in "Summer Crochet Items," as well as providing anecdotes about the creation of the pieces, including the background to their creation and tips on how to crochet them. We hope this will be helpful for those who are just starting to crochet.

This time too, I was in charge of design, production, and writing.
You can see a little bit of what's inside, but there are many other variations of the bag, so I hope you'll take a look at them all!!

[Production Story]

1. Diagonal patterned basket bag

This is the brown bag on the cover.
It's a generous size, so it's perfect for knitting slowly in time for spring and summer.
It can be worn over the shoulder, so it can also be used to carry large luggage.

While maintaining a sense of unity with the double crochet stitches, I added a row of quarter stitches after increasing the bottom stitches to make the border between the bottom and the side slightly smoother.

It is a slightly sheer knit, but not completely see-through, giving it a cool feel.
This knitting pattern was born when I was doing some test knitting.

Crocheting cannot be said to be new in the world because it is impossible to know where it has already been made, but in this book, I wanted to put my own ``first'' into each and every piece (oh, there was also a cat bag in the book).

This can be the knitting pattern, the tailoring method, the motif, or the choice of yarn.
Some of the pieces took days of repeated re-knitting...

I prefer things that are easy to use, so I tend to use simple designs, but I would be happy if there was a piece that caught my eye.

2. Open-brim hat

This is also the piece on the cover.
It's like a boater hat with openwork on the edge of the brim.
The edges are knitted with technoloth to give them a crisp finish.

I think this recipe is easier to knit if you have some prior information, so I'll add some details below:

Since no stitches are increased in the openwork part of the edge, when you knit up to the last row of the openwork, the knitted fabric will feel taut and shrunken, and you may wonder if this is okay.
However, once you knit the next knit stitch, the fabric will spread out and settle, so try knitting as is.
I added a watermark while making sure the edges don't look frizzy.

As an added touch, you could add a black ribbon around it.

3. Foot covers

On the right is the foot cover, which you can see briefly on the cover.
The blue on the left is also featured in the book.

Summer yarn is less stretchy than winter yarn, so I think it's better to knit with yarn that allows for easy size adjustments.
This is a knitted piece that doesn't look strange even when switched from circular knitting to back knitting, so I tried knitting it from the toe to the heel.

Changing the size involves increasing or decreasing the number of rows you knit, and the left one is particularly easy to adjust.
The right side is the same, so as long as you don't think too hard about the pattern (which I'm fine with), it's fine.

4. Granny Lace Shawl

This is also the triangular shawl on the cover.
I love dense knitted fabrics, but for the warmer seasons, simple knitted fabrics with a sheer feel are also fun to knit as they have a crocheted feel to them.

It looks like it has a crocheted edge, but it's knitted without a crocheted edge, so once you have a triangle, it's finished.
The triangle is knitted starting from the sharpest point at the bottom and then expanding upwards so that it can be knitted as large as desired.
Since you can continue knitting using the same pattern, this recipe may be suitable for mobile knitting or for knitting in your spare time.

5. Round-bottomed one-shoulder bag

This is one of the works you can find on Amazon.
This is the bag on the right page of the red dress.

If you change the angle, the bag looks like this.
It's a generous size, so it's perfect for hanging over your shoulder.
This is a round-bottom one-shoulder bag with an orthodox design.

I like bags that are knitted in the same pattern from bottom to top because it's simple, but sometimes that's not possible, and when you try to do that, the knitting method can become complicated...
The bottom of this bag is simple, and the knitting changes halfway through, but it is not obvious when viewed from the side.
Also, I tried to make sure that the handle alone would not change the feel of the knitted fabric.

It's a normal-shaped bag, but it's perfect for casual use♪ We've added a few little touches like this.
It's quite large, so I hope you'll take your time knitting it and use it in spring and summer.
