Here we explain how to crochet by gathering the stitches from the previous row into a bunch and crocheting five double crochets, using video and still images.

In crochet, it is common to pick up a stitch from a chain made in the previous row and crochet the next row.
There are two ways to knit: splitting the chain and knitting the chain together in a bundle.
When the final product will be clearly different depending on which knitting method is used, I will use them differently when designing a piece.
You can often tell which stitch you should use by looking at the knitting pattern, so we'll give you a brief explanation here.
For example, if you are knitting 5 double crochets, you can determine this by looking at the base of the knitting pattern symbol for the 5 double crochets.
Knit into the first stitch of the previous rowIf you knit a chain (by splitting it), the bases of the knitting pattern symbol for the 5 double crochets will be together, but if you knit 5 double crochets in a bunch, the bases of the double crochets will be separated.
