How to make yarn pom-poms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It's common to add pompoms to crocheted hats, for example.
We hope this will be helpful in such situations, so here we will explain how to make bonbons using cardboard.

\u2460 Cut the cardboard into a U-shape as shown in the photo above.
It is a good idea to make it slightly larger than the diameter of the pompom you want to make (so that you can trim the long hairs to make them all the same length at the end of the process).
I made them large enough so that I could cut them easily.
Here, we make it about 5cm high and the finished size will be about 4.5cm.

\u2461 Wrap the yarn around the open side of the cardboard. I wrapped it around about 150 times.

I used cotton yarn here, so I wrapped it around this much, but if you use wool yarn, it will shrink tightly when you tie it in the middle, so you may be able to wrap it around a few more times.

\u2462 Pass the thread through the U-shape and tie it tightly.

Because I used cotton thread here, even when I tied it tightly, the center didn't get very thin, and it looked like the thread might break if I pulled it all the way, so to reinforce it I tied it tightly once with thick sewing thread, and then wrapped wool around it and tied it again.

The last wrap of yarn will be used to secure the hat.

4. Remove the yarn from the cardboard and place scissors into the loop of the yarn to cut it.

Arrange a hair tie using yarn pom-poms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I thought this might be one way to use yarn pom-poms.
How about a hair tie like this?
Depending on how you wind the thread, the finished product can vary from plump, round pompoms to ones that are a little less dense.
Here, I've made a pompom with a slightly thinner thread density into a hair tie.
Pompoms made by pulling together two colors of yarn also have a nice feel.

The photo above shows yarn wrapped around cardboard cut into a U-shape.
Since Christmas is approaching, I tried wrapping two strands of medium-fine yarn in a Christmas-like color around the fabric.

\u2461At first, I tried tying it tightly with a hair tie while it was still attached to the cardboard box, but when I removed it from the box and checked it, the knot was loose, so it was a bit of a failure.

First, temporarily secure it with yarn while it is still attached to the cardboard, then remove it from the cardboard.

3) After removing the cardboard, I found that tying the area where it was temporarily fastened tightly with a hair tie created a tighter, stronger knot.

I cut and removed the temporary fastening thread (although I don't think it's a problem if you leave it on).

It was a cute color, so I decided to leave the fur long.
